Durable Workstations for Offshore Environments

Triton workstations are highly reliable computers designed and manufactured to function in harsh conditions such as the offshore environment. They are used by many military organizations worldwide, including the US Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Units, the Finnish Navy, the Royal Australian Navy, the Royal New Zealand Navy among many others. Triton computers are unmatched in reliability, life cycle cost and durability.

Components are Engineered Against Vibration

All large circuit boards are secured with a sturdy retaining bar. All major internal fasteners are thread-locked. All cable bundles are secured against vibration and chafing. For secure shipping portable foam-lined shipping cases are custom-designed for each computer.

Chassis designed to Dissipate Heat Quickly

Heat is the enemy of reliable workstations. Modern CPUs, acquisition boards and disk drives generate considerable heat. This excessive heat must be moved out of the chassis. Proper airflow is critical in salt air, high ambient temperature environments. The Triton chassis is designed for these difficult offshore conditions. Typical temperature rise above ambient is only 1C in the board bay and 2-3 C in the drive bay.

Reliable Power for Demanding Jobs

A workstation with multiple hard drives, optical drives and/or tape drives require high capacity power sources. Total 12V draw at start-up can reach 15 Amps with 6 drives. Few standard computers can supply this load. The Triton workstations use a minimum 300 W output power supply with high 12V capacity. Auto-switching AC inputs assure worldwide compatibility.

Interoperable and Expandable Design

The workstation architecture is Intel-based and designed to include commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) components. This design philosophy is conducive to hardware compatibility and ease of upgrade. Additional options for upgrading RAM, video display, hard drive capacity and storage devices are available. Data storage options can include transfer to a networked server, RAID configurations, DVD-RW, Magneto-Optical and tape drives. Removable drives are available for secure applications. For optimizing the display, dual or quad flat panel display units can be configured with Triton workstations. Systems are assembled to customer specification. All systems are covered by a one-year warranty and include shipping cases for chassis and display units.
