The sonar interface board used in a Triton acquisition system is a special version of the Innovative Integration ChicoPlus board made for Triton. It is a PCI board and requires one free PCI slot in the system.
If you are installing the board on a Windows 2000 or Windows XP system, you must have administrator's rights to install the board and drivers.
The general tasks to be done in this order are:
You can configure the Chico board for a digital or analog interface, depending on the type of sonar you intend to use. Examples of sonars that would require a digital interface are the EdgeTech DF1000, EdgeTech ACI, Klein 2100. Examples of sonars that would require an analog interface would be Klein 595, EGG 260, Geo Acoustics, and many others.
Your ChicoPlus kit comes with the following equipment:

Software, then hardware, must be installed in order to make the board operational with your PC system.
The following description and procedures are common to both analog and digital boards. You will need the current software release CD from Triton. All necessary driver files are on this CD and can be found in the following directory path:
{CD drive}:Extras\Drivers and 3rd Party Applications\ChicoDriverInstallation\Setup

If your system has an older Chico board, you MUST remove the old drivers first!
How to tell whether the older drivers are on the system?
Look for Chico Armada in the Windows program menus Start>Programs
You must install the Chico drivers before you install the Chico board.
Warning!
You must install the drivers before you install the board!
Otherwise, Windows will attempt to load the wrong drivers!
You must have administrator's rights to proceed. If you don't have those rights, you will need to have your system administrator continue from this point forward.
The system displays the InstallShield Wizard Welcome screen.

The system displays the Start Copying files screen, there are no selections to make here,
hit Next
displays the InstallShield Wizard Completed screen.
You install the Chico board after you install the Chico software drivers as described in To install the Chico software drivers.
Warning!
You must install the drivers before you install the board!
Otherwise, Windows will attempt to load the wrong Windows' drivers!
With the power OFF, install the Chico board in a free PCI slot and then restart the system
When the system re-starts, Windows will detect the new board, with this message:

Followed by this message:

Then the Found new hardware Wizard will start:

Click Next to Continue

At this screen accept the default
"Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)"
and click Next to continue
Uncheck the boxes Floppy Drive and CD Rom drive
Click Next the system will search for suitable files and display the Search Results:

Click Next to continue.
The drivers will install and present the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box. Click Finish .
Manually finding the driver files
If the Wizard is unable to find the driver files this is how to find them.
If necessary, use the Browse button on the Files Needed dialog box:
The system first needs to know the location of the file iixwdm.sys

to locate the folder C:\WINNT\System32\drivers:

Click OK
In the Locate File dialog box, highlight the file iixwdm.sys :

and click Open
After a short pause the system displays the following dialog box:

Click Finish to dismiss the Hardware Wizard
This completes the installation of the driver files required for the Chico board.
Click Start>Programs>TIIChico3>Reserve Memory:

The system displays the Reserve Memory for Chico dialog box

In the Reserve Memory For Chico dialog box, click Update, the dialog box should change and appear like this:

Indicating that the operation has completed successfully.
The following dialog box appears:

Click Yes and allow the system to restart, there is no need to power down again.
This completes the Chico board installation and configuration.
Included with the installation is a test routine that checks the functionality of the Chico board.
Click on Start>Programs>TIIChico3>Quick Test:

The Chico Quick Tester Program starts, click the Busmaster Tab:

Then Start Test, the program runs with the progress bar moving from left to right, and if successful the following dilaog box appears:

Close the dialog box by clicking Exit.
This completes the installation and testing of the Chico board.
