Setting up a custom shortcut for Isis (SS-Logger or MB-Logger)

It is possible to configure Isis to start with different configurations by specifying the name of the configuration file in an Isis desktop shortcut.

The following description applies to Isis.exe, TritonSS-L.exe and TritonMB-L.exe, depending on which application you are using - the method is the same. The Isis .CFG file exists in the Isis installation folder, by default the name of this configuration file is:

Isis<Computer Name>.CFG

The file is automatically created when you exit Isis and all current configuration details are saved, including sonar type, serial port setup etc.

To create a custom shortcut.

  1. Start Isis and hit Configure>Reset to Factory Configuration. (Note that this will reset all Isis settings) - allow Isis to re-start.
  2. Using Windows Explorer locate the Isis.exe file in C:\Program Files\Triton Imaging, Inc\Triton Isis
  3. Right click on Isis.exe and drag it to the Windows Desktop, release the right mouse button and choose Create Shortcut Here
  4. A new shortcut called Isis Sonar will be created on the desktop
  5. Right click on this new shortcut and choose Properties:

In the Target window we see: "C:\Program Files\Triton Imaging, Inc\Isis Sonar\Isis.exe"

Let us assume that we are going to make this shortcut configure Isis for an Edgetech 4200.

We would edit the Target line to read:

"C:\Program Files\Triton Imaging, Inc\Isis Sonar\Isis.exe" /CFG=4200.CFG

Note that /CFG=4200.CFG is OUTSIDE the quotation marks and with one space added.

Hit Apply.

Now launch Isis from this shortcut, make the configurations for the Edgetech 4200, when you are done exit Isis and Save on Exit.

When Isis is launched from this shortcut it will use the Edgetech 4200 settings.

The procedure can be used for any number of different sonars on a single system, just choose a suitable name for the .CFG file.

For convenience you may want to also rename the shortcut (right click > rename)
