Using Triton SS-Logger™ and MBSS-Logger™ (Isis®) with the Edgetech 4200 sonar.

Triton Isis interfaces to the Edgetech 4200 via the Edgetech Discover application and a server called Edgetech4200.exe located in the same folder as Isis.

There are two ways this can be set up:

Setting up the correct IP address

The default settings in Isis assume the first method.  In that case, if the network has been set up correctly, when Isis is configured for the Edgetech 4200 and launched, the connection should happen automatically on hitting the red Record button in Isis.  The default IP address is 192.10.0.100.  The only requirement is that the NIC used must be set in the same IP range as 192.10.0.nnn (but NOT 192.10.0.100).

If Isis is running on the same PC as the Edgetech software, when the connection is made the first time by hitting the red Record button in Isis the following message will be generated:

To set the correct server IP address do this:

Hit the OK button, and then Settings>Sidescan Sonar>Comms

The IP address setup box will appear:

Enter 127.0.0.1 as shown > OK

Now hit the STOP button in Isis:

And then exit from the 4200 server:

Hit OK:

The settings for the IP address 127.0.0.1 have been saved in the file Edgetech4200.cfg. 127.0.0.1 is the internal loop-back address allowing direct communications between the Isis 4200 server and the discover software.  The file Edgetech 4200.cfg can be found in the following folder(s) on the system:

C:\Program Files\Triton Imaging, Inc\Triton Isis

Or

C:\Program Files\Triton Imaging, Inc\Triton SS-Logger

Depending upon which application is being used.

Now hit File>Exit from Isis and answer “Yes” to the question “Save Configuration Before Exit?”

Re-launch Isis and hit the Red Record button again, the Edgetech 4200 server will launch and there should be no error message.

Configuring the Edgetech 4200 server

These instructions refer to all versions of the Edgetech 4200 after v7.0.413.9, you can check the version number by hitting Help>About in the 4200 server:

In the 4200 server click More Options:

Note that all the Ping Mode options are grayed-out…

In Isis click the STOP button:

Note that the Ping Mode selections are now available in the 4200 server:

Select the Ping mode and channels that you need:

The ping number start incrementing immediatly, however there will no waterfall in the Isis display until the Record button is clicked:

NOTE: Some earlier versions of the Edgtech 4200 sonar did not support dual channel High Speed Mode (HSM) if you select HSM and both High Frequency and Low Frequency and Isis stops scrolling data you may have an earlier version of the 4200 sonar,  Try selecting only one frequency.

At this time the Isis waterfall will start and data can be recorded in Isis.

When exiting the next time from Isis (Hit STOP first to disconnect from the server) make sure to “Save Setup” one more time.

The next time Isis is launched all settings should be saved and acquisition can commence immediately.

NOTE:

To change Ping Mode in the 4200 server at any time you MUST hit the STOP button in Isis, you cannot change Ping Mode “on the fly”

Setting the pressure sensor offset (Deck offset)

The pressure sensor in the tow-fish sends absolute pressure (psia) that is converted to meters by Isis.  In the server, clicking on Settings give you access to the template used to decode the numeric data string from the fish:

Note the editable string and the explanation.  The default value of -14.6 (psi) represents average atmospheric pressure; you can edit this number to bring the displayed value in the Isis parameter display to Zero:
