Triton Perspective Demo Projects

 

The demo datasets below are made available to Triton customers for learning to use the software and for demonstrating Perspective's capabilities. Each project includes different types of data files from different locations worldwide. Look for the dataset the best covers your interests in terms of survey methods and included processing/interpretation steps.

Note that all demo projects require a password to open the zip files and a license to run Triton software.
Please contact us if you need to obtain a temporary license file to use for the software demos.

 


 

SYDNEY HARBOR, AUSTRALIA

Demo datasets in this project were collected for the Shallow Survey 1999 conference in Sydney, Australia. Included in this project is a multibeam sonar dataset collected with a Reson SeaBat8101, and a sidescan dataset collected with a Klein 5000 sonar.

Download Options:

There are three options for downloading the project files. Each download option contains the necessary files to follow the primary tasks outlined in the training guides. The main difference between downloads is the number of multibeam and sidescan lines included for processing.

This 1 page PDF presents the outline of the software tutorial for the Sydney Harbor datasets. This document is good for a quick overview of the steps included in the tutorial. It is also a good reference for experience Perspective users to test your skills
- try completing all the steps without any instructions included!

This 15 page PDF presents each phase for the Sydney Harbor tutorial in a systematic way to move from task to task. Without any prior experience with Perspective it is expected that you will need to use the Perspective processing guides to assist with many of the steps.

This 37 page PDF attempts to describe the purpose for each step and give ideas on how to best use the tools needed to complete the tutorial. Although each step is well described, in an effort to limit the length of this document there are some tasks that will still require refering to the Perspective processing guides.

LAKE CHAMPLAIN, USA

Demo datasets in this project include an Edgetech subbottom survey using their SB216 portable profiler, a coinciding sidescan survey line collected with a Klein 3000 dual-frequency sonar, and farther south along the river another subbottom profile collected using a Knudsen Pinger.

Download Options:

For downloading, this project is divided into a main project download and separate downloads for the data files. Since the Edgetechg dataset is fairly large, we have snipped the lines and offer a reduced dataset for minimizing the download size.

Training Guides:

There are two training guides for this project available below:

 

 

LakeChamplain_DetailedTutorial.pdf

 

This 40 page PDF contains a complete desciption of how to process and interpret subbottom data in Perspective. Also described in detail is the procedure for processing sidescan data in Perspective. Sidescan interpretation options are not discussed in this tutorial but instead are covered in the Sydney Harbor project using a better sidescan dataset. As much as possible without making this document too long, I included the purpose for each step and gave ideas on how to best use the tools included in this tutorial.

 

SB-I_Training_Guide.pdf

 

This tutorial was written for the stand-alone SB-Interpreter software package but covers all of the basic operations available in Perspective-SB for processing and interpreting subbottom data. Not discussed in the SB-I training guide is the projection of subsurface borehole data onto subbottom profiles using the Feature implementation. Instructions for doing this are presented in the Point Features Guide found with the Perspective user guides at the link below.
