Seafloor Exploration Training Course
Location: Palermo, Siciliy
Dates of Event: July 2017
Triton will be participating in a 11-day intensive seafloor exploration training course in Palermo, Sicily in July 2017. This course will cover the following content:
|
|
|
• Seafloor exploration methods, their design and operation
• Seafloor data processing, visualization and interpretation using commercial and open-source software
• Advanced seafloor data analyses techniques (e.g. spatial analyses, seabed classification, habitat mapping,
geomorphometry)
• Survey planning
• Field Trip: A two day field trip on board a scientific research vessel to gain experience in survey planning,
acquisition and processing of seafloor data
• Themed sessions: Using the field trip seafloor data, students will process, interpret and analyze the data
based on a preferred theme (for example: geology, biology or archaeology)
